The commission rate represents the percentage of a sale amount that is paid to a creator and to YouTube for the sales the creator generates through their channel by featuring your products.
This article provides guidance on how to set, view, and edit your pending and attribution periods.
How it works
Pending period
Pending period is the duration during which the commission from a purchase remains in a pending state and is reversed if there is a return or cancellation. The default is set to a recommended 30 days but this can be changed to anything between 30 to 50 days. The best practice is to match the pending period closely with your return window so you can avoid paying commissions for returned or canceled items.
You can set the pending period when you first onboard to the YouTube Shopping affiliate program on the Google & YouTube app on Shopify. After onboarding, you can view or edit your pending period in your Google Merchant Center account by selecting “YouTube affiliate” from the left-navigation menu. On the “YouTube affiliate program page” that opens, find the “Settings” section and click Manage settings.
Attribution period
Attribution period is the time window in which we attribute a sale to the creator (after clicking on their product tags). It is set to 30 days by default, meaning creators can earn commissions on sales that happen during this 30 day window.
