Your Pixelbook battery will last up to 10 hours before you have to recharge.*

Charge the battery on your Pixelbook by plugging a power adapter into one of the USB Type-C ports on either side of the device.
You'll know it's charging when the battery icon in the lower right of your screen changes from to . When your Pixelbook is fully charged, the battery icon will change to .
Check your battery power
If your battery is about to die, a warning will show in the bottom right corner of the screen. You'll also see a blinking red light next to one of your Pixelbook's USB-C ports. Plug in your Pixelbook to continue working.
See how much charge your Pixelbook's battery has by clicking the battery icon in the lower right corner of your screen. A window will open to show you what percentage of power is remaining and how much time it'll take until your battery is drained.
The small light next to the charging port will also indicate your Pixelbook's charging state:
Pixelbook Go
- Solid orange - Charging
- Solid white - Battery is fully charged
- Blinking red - Low charge
Pixelbook (2017)
- Solid white - Charging
- Solid green - Battery is fully charged
- Blinking red - Low charge
When your Pixelbook is in sleep mode or powered off, you can check the state of your battery using the LED lights on the sides of your Pixelbook, next to your USB ports. Just double tap anywhere on the top or either side of the device to trigger the lights. If your Pixelbook's plugged in to power, the lights on both sides of your device will shine.
Here's what the light colors mean:
- Green light: Battery charged at least 95%
- White-green light: Battery charged at least 75%
- Solid white: 25-75% of battery life remaining
- White-red: 15-25% of battery life remaining
- Solid red: 5-15% battery life remaining
- Blinking red: Less than 5% battery remaining
If your Pixelbook's battery level drops to 15% while unplugged from power, a solid red light will appear for 2 minutes before switching off. If you still haven't charged the device when it drops to 5% remaining battery, the lights will pulse red for another 2 minutes.

Tips to help your battery last longer
Here are a few tips that can prevent your battery from draining too fast:
- Avoid adjusting your screen brightness and keyboard backlight to the highest setting. Consider keeping your screen brightness around 50%.
- Don't run more than one processor-heavy app (like Adobe Lightroom) at a time.
Troubleshoot issues with charging Pixelbook
We recommend using the USB-C power adapter that came with your Pixelbook. If you need another one, you may order one from the Google Store.
You can charge your device using most USB Type-C ports or USB chargers with a Type-C to Type-A adapter cable that comply with the USB-C Standard. However, these chargers may provide less power to your device, and take longer to charge than the original charger, or even be unable to charge the battery while the device is on. For this reason, we always recommend using the original chargers or a Made for Google charger.
If you've connected your device to an appropriate charger, but it still isn't charging, try the following troubleshooting steps:
Ensure that your device is plugged in correctly and that the charging LED is illuminated- Disconnect the charger from your device and unplug it from the power outlet.
- Wait 5 seconds, then plug the charger back in and connect it to your device.
- Check that the LED next to the port you've connected to turns on.
- If the LED indicates that your device is charging, but it still won't turn on, wait a few minutes to let it charge before trying again.
If the charging LED is blinking red when plugged in, and your device isn't turning on or charging even after several minutes of being connected to its original charger, the battery may be deeply discharged. In this case, try connecting your device to a less powerful charger for an hour. Examples of less powerful chargers may include older USB phone chargers, or the USB 2.0 port on another computer.
- Connect your device to Wi-Fi.
- In the bottom right, select the time to open the status area.
- Select Settings .
- Select Menu About ChromeOS.
- Under "Google ChromeOS," you'll see which version of the Chrome operating system your device is using.
- Select Check for updates.
- If your device finds a software update, it will start to download automatically.
If the battery icon doesn't indicate charging, or if the charging LED doesn't turn on, you may need to reset your device. A hard reset will not remove accounts or personal data from your device, but you should make sure to save any open files before proceeding.
- Turn off your device by holding down the Power, or selecting the time in the bottom right and choosing Power
- Wait 1 minute.
- While pressing and holding the Refresh key , tap the Power.
After resetting your device, try connecting the charger again.
