If your Pixelbook is lost or stolen, you can go to your Google account to see the last time that it was connected to Wi-Fi and its general location when it was last connected to Wi-Fi. From there you can remove access to your accounts from the device.
Bear in mind that:
- Your device's location will only be updated when it is used with Wi-Fi, and only general location data will be available
- If your accounts are removed from the device or if it's Powerwashed, the device's location will no longer be updated
- You can't remotely lock or wipe your device
Step 1: Check the last known location
- Go to your Google account.
- On the left navigation panel, select Security.
- On the 'Your devices' panel, select Manage devices.
- You'll see devices that have used your account in the last 28 days or are currently signed in.
- To get details, select a device. You'll see more info, like the last time and general area in which the device used your account.
- Look for any unfamiliar devices on the list. This can indicate that your account has been compromised.
If you believe that your device was lost or misplaced, you can attempt to use this location information to recover your device. If you do recover it, no further action is necessary.
Otherwise, you may want to note this information for the purposes of filing a police report or insurance claim. Then, move on to the next step.
Step 2: Remove account access
- Go to your Google account.
- On the left navigation panel, select Security.
- On the 'Your devices' panel, select Manage devices.
- Select the device.
- Select Remove.
Note: While this will not remotely wipe the device, it will help prevent others from compromising your account or accessing locally stored data tied to it.
If you have multiple accounts signed in to the device, remember to repeat this step with each of them.
Step 3: Secure your account
- Go to your Google account.
- On the left navigation panel, select Security.
- On the 'Signing in to Google' panel, select Password.
- Follow the instructions to change your password.
If you have multiple accounts signed in to the device, remember to repeat this step with each of them.
