To use a mobile network, a phone needs an IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number. To use an eSIM, a phone also needs an EID (Embedded Identity Document) number. When you set up a new SIM, you may need to give your operator your phone’s IMEI 1, IMEI 2 or EID numbers.
Learn about IMEI 1 and IMEI 2
Pixel phones that can use both eSIM and SIM cards have two IMEI numbers, one for each kind of SIM. Find out which Pixel phones use both kinds of SIMs.
If you have two IMEI numbers, IMEI 1 is usually paired with the first SIM used to set up your phone. To confirm, check with your mobile operator.
If you have a Pixel 3a or later Pixel phone, you can use two SIMs: one physical SIM card and one eSIM. You can choose which SIM to use for which action, like messaging or calling. This option is called Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS).
Find your phone's IMEI numbers
Check:
- Your phone's box.
- Your phone's SIM card tray.
- Your phone's Settings app.
- Tap About phone, then find 'IMEI'.
- Google Find My Device.
- At the top left, tap your phone.
- Tap Information

.To give you an eSIM so that you can use Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS), your operator may ask for your phone’s IMEI 2. To find your IMEI 2:
- Turn on DSDS. Learn how to turn on DSDS.
- Open your phone’s Settings app.
- Tap About phone.
- Find 'IMEI (SIM slot 2)'.
