The Google Pixel Fold has 5 cameras:
- 3 cameras on the rear camera bar with wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto lenses
- 2 cameras, one on the outside and one inside
Try out camera features on your Pixel Fold
To take group photos and hands-free photos of the night sky, use the new tabletop mode and foldable format.
Take a Rear Camera Selfie- On your Pixel Fold, open the Camera app .
- To switch to the rear camera, tap Switch screen .
- The camera display switches to the outer display.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
- If your phone is folded, unfold it so that both the outer display and the rear cameras face you.
- If your phone is unfolded, flip the phone around so that the rear cameras are facing you.
- Press the shutter button to take a selfie while viewing yourself on the outer display.
- On your Pixel Fold, open the Camera app .
- Fold your phone into an L shape (or tabletop mode).
- Place your phone on a surface with the rear cameras facing your subject. You'll be able to see the photo preview on the outside screen as well.
- To take a photo with the timer:
- Tap 3 seconds or 10 seconds . Press the shutter button and then step into the photo.

Take a hands-free photo with your voice
Important: You’ll need to have Google Assistant already set up. Learn how to set up Google Assistant.
- Open the Camera app .
- Set your device on a stable surface or stand and step away, into the camera’s frame.
- To start a camera timer with your voice, say "OK Google, take a picture." After a 3-second delay, your phone will take a photo.
Tip: Learn how to edit your group photos and remove unwanted distractions in the background.
To capture high-quality images of space objects and the night sky, use the Astrophotography mode. Before you take a night-sky photo, make sure to turn on Night Sight. Learn more about Night Sight.
To take an Astrophotography photo:
- Go to a dark area.
- On your Pixel fold, open the Camera app .
- Unfold your phone into an L shape and place it on a steady surface.
- Wait for a few seconds.
- When your phone is still and ready, it shows a message that says “Astrophotography on.”
- If Astrophotography doesn't automatically turn on, you can turn it on by tapping Night Sight and then dragging the slider to Astro.
- Tap Capture .
- Your phone shows a countdown timer. Keep the phone still until the photo is complete.
- To stop taking a photo, tap Stop .
Tips:
- To save your full length files in high quality, on Pixel 4 and later you can turn on Time Lapse for astrophotography.
- Learn more about improving your low light and nighttime photo quality.
- On your Pixel fold, open the Camera app .
- At the bottom left, tap Settings .
- Tap More settings tap Advanced.
- Turn on Enable time lapse for astrophotography.
Use Made You Look to get a subject, like kids or pets, to look at the camera when you try to take a photo of them.
- On your Pixel fold, open the Camera app .
- Unfold your phone.
- Tap Switch screen .
- An animation will play on the cover display. When your subject smiles, the animation will react.
- To mute the sounds, tap Mute . To adjust the sound, use the volume buttons on the side of your phone.
- To switch between the 4 available animations, tap Back , then pick one of the 4 icons.
- To turn off Made You Look, tap Remove or switch to a different mode like video.
