If you're having a problem with your Pixel Slate hardware or software, such as the keyboard not working or the device not turning on, try the steps below. Test your Pixel Slate after each step to see if the problem is fixed.
If you're still having trouble after trying these steps, contact Pixel Slate support.
Hardware problems
First, check that:
- The charger or adapter cables are completely plugged in, both to your Pixel Slate and the wall.
- The power outlet is working.
If your Pixel Slate still won't charge:
- Unplug your charger from the wall and your Pixel Slate.
- Plug your charger back in to your Pixel Slate, then the wall.
- Charge the device for at least 30 minutes.
If the battery still won't charge, reset your Pixel Slate hardware.
You can also try these troubleshooting steps for charging issues.
Can't connect to Bluetooth
- Make sure that your Bluetooth device is supported and sufficiently charged.
- Make sure you've entered your Bluetooth PIN correctly.
- Turn off Bluetooth, then turn it back on.
Can connect, but Bluetooth keeps dropping
- Make sure that your Bluetooth device is supported and sufficiently charged.
- On your Pixel Slate, turn off Bluetooth, then turn it back on.
- Move the Bluetooth device and your Pixel Slate closer together.
- Move your Bluetooth device away from other wireless devices and appliances.
- Close browser tabs and apps you're not using.

If Bluetooth still doesn't work, contact the manufacturer of your Bluetooth device for more help.
If your camera isn't working, or if you see an error message in the Camera app:
- Turn off your Pixel Slate, then turn it back on.
- Try using the camera in another app, If it works in that app, uninstall the app where it doesn't work, then reinstall it.
- Reset your Pixel Slate.
- Recover your Pixel Slate.
If you're having issues with a connected monitor, try performing a hard reset:
- Turn off your device by holding down the Power button, or selecting the time in the bottom right and choosing Power
- Wait 1 minute.
- In laptop mode: While pressing and holding the Refresh key , tap the Power button.
In tablet mode: Press and hold the Power button + Volume up button for 10 seconds.

- Make sure sound isn't muted:
- In the bottom right of your screen, tap the time
- Adjust the volume using the slider.
- Unplug audio devices (like headphones or speakers) from your Pixel Slate.
- Reset your Pixel Slate.
- Recover your Pixel Slate.

System problems
If your Pixel Slate is crashing or freezing, try each of these steps until the issue stops:
- Turn off your Pixel Slate, then turn it back on.
- Close all your apps and browser windows.
- If a specific tab in your browser causes your Pixel Slate to crash or freeze, hard refresh the page:
On a keyboard: Ctrl + Shift + r.
On a tablet: Tap Refresh - If you've installed any new apps or extensions recently, uninstall them.
If your Pixel Slate is still crashing or freezing, try resetting it. If that's unsuccessful, then take steps to recover your Pixel Slate.
Check for system updates. If any updates are available, install them.
First, check if the battery is charging by plugging your Pixel Slate into a power outlet. (Usually, you'll see a light turn on.)
If your Pixel Slate is charging, let it charge for at least 30 minutes. If it still won't turn on, recover your Pixel Slate.
If your Pixel Slate still isn't charging:
- Check if the charger or adapter cables are completely plugged in, both to your Pixel Slate and the wall.
- Make sure that the power outlet is working.
- Unplug your charger from the wall and your Pixel Slate.
- Plug your charger back in to your Pixel Slate, then the wall.
- Charge the device for at least 30 minutes.
If these steps don't fix the problem, reset your Pixel Slate.

Webpage problems

Your Pixel Slate might be running low on memory. To fix this problem:
- Close any browser tabs you're not using.
- Turn off your Pixel Slate, then turn it back on.
- Open the Task Manager:
On a keyboard: In the top right of your Chrome browser window, select More More tools Task manager.
On a touchscreen: Long-press the top of your Chrome browser window (not on a tab) Task manager. - Close any apps or windows you're not using.
- Try turning off some of your extensions:
- Open Chrome .
- At the top right, select More .
- Choose More tools Extensions.
- Review your list of extensions. If you don't need one, uncheck Enabled next to the extension name.
If the site needs certain credentials to sign in or open the page, contact the site's administrator for help.
If the site doesn't require certain credentials:
- If you're using a proxy, make sure it's set up correctly.
- Clear your cache.
- Clear your DNS cache:
- Open Chrome .
- Go to
chrome://net-internals/#dns
- Select Clear host cache.
If the site still won't open, contact the site's administrator.
