We do not allow Google-served ads:
- in apps or web pages that run in the background,
- that appear outside the display,
- when the user's attention is expected to be elsewhere and not on the screen hosting the ad.
It must be clear to the user with which publisher-content the ad is associated.
Tips for understanding this policy
It is our policy to not allow Google-served ads to be placed outside the display. It should be clear to the user which screen an ad is associated with or implemented in. Examples that can help you understand out of context ads policy:
- If the display is not reasonably expected to be being viewed by the user, it should not show Google-served ads.
- Google-served ads in widgets, launched before an app has opened or after an app has closed are not allowed.
- Publishers are not permitted to place Google served ads on sites that contain or trigger pop-unders or pop-up ads served hours/days later from an idle tab.
- Google-served ads initiated by Chrome extension that have nothing to do with the web page a user is visiting are not allowed.
