Are some of your search ads performing better in the mornings, while others drive more conversions in the late afternoons? Do ads on mobile devices perform better before rush hour each day, or after you air commercials on TV in the evenings?
If the data is provided by the advertising platform, you can use hourly charts and reports in new Search Ads 360 to identify time-sensitive trends and behaviors.
You can then use automated rules to adjust bids at different times of the day.
Where to find Hourly and Hour of Day options
- You’ll find hourly reports at both Sub-manager and Client account levels through the Reports icon > Predefined reports > Time > Hour of day option, but only for advertising platforms which provide hourly data.
- To view only the metrics for which hourly data is available to add to your Report, on the Report’s right pane set the menu option Show incompatible to Off. To view metrics that can be added to a chart, click the Columns icon above the table.
- You’ll find charts with an Hourly ADJUST option above Account, Campaign, or Ad Group tables on the relevant pages, if supported by the advertising platform.
Availability of hourly data from different advertising platforms
Hourly data is available in all supported search advertising platforms except Yahoo! Gemini. It’s available at the Manager, Sub-manager and Client account level.
Any restrictions that exist for particular advertising platforms are described in the table below:
Advertising platform |
Restrictions |
Google Ads |
Hourly data has no known restrictions, though accounts don’t have hourly data before January 2007. |
Microsoft Ads |
Hourly data is available in the Ad Group, Campaign, and Account tables. The data is available for a maximum of 180 days. |
Baidu |
Hourly data is available in Campaign and Account tables, but not in Ad Group tables. The data is available for a maximum of 30 days. |
Yahoo! JAPAN Ads |
Hourly data is available in the Ad Group, Campaign, and Account tables. The data is available for a maximum of 1 year. |
All other advertising platforms |
No hourly data is available. |
Historical hourly data availability conditions
Hourly charts and reports are supported in the following conditions:
- The scope includes data from at least one Google Ads, Baidu, or Microsoft Account Campaign or Ad group.
- You are viewing an Account, Campaign, or Ad group table
If the table is an Ad group table and only Baidu is in scope, hourly reports and charts are still not supported. - The data range only includes dates within the last 80 days.
- The date range includes a max of 31 days. In charts, this prevents too many data points.
If you have exactly one date in a chart data range, only Hourly data can be displayed. If Hourly is unsupported for the scope or metric, Day is selected and a single data point shown. - For Hourly charts, if your data consists of both supported and unsupported items, the chart is still displayed but with a warning that some data may be missing.
Metrics such as conversions available in hourly reports and charts
Hourly data is available only for conversions recorded by the following tracking systems:
- Floodlight activities (both online and offline).
Hourly reports are only available for some types of Google Ads conversions.
