Edit your bulksheet

You may need to make some adjustments to ensure that your bulksheet uploads are done correctly. The information below provides tips on how to format your bulksheet.

The Search Ads 360 bulksheet schema has changed. Some columns have been renamed, some have been removed, and new columns have been added. If you've used bulksheets to upload data to the previous Search Ads 360, you will need to make some changes to migrate those bulksheets to the new Search Ads 360. Learn how to Migrate bulksheets to the new Search Ads 360.

General bulksheet information

  • If you are using a Search Ads 360 report as your bulksheet, you don’t need to delete extraneous columns or the total rows.
  • Non-editable columns, or editable columns where no change has been made, will be ignored.
  • If you don't specify the "Action" column of a new item, the item will be enabled by default.
  • When inputting URLs, remember that the full URL is always required:
    • Correct: https://example.com
    • Incorrect: example.com

Spreadsheet technical requirements

  • Spreadsheets must be in one of our supported formats (Google Sheets (not in sFTP), .xls, .xlsx, .tsv, or .csv).
  • Spreadsheets must be 50MB or less in size.
  • Spreadsheets must contain no more than 1 million rows.
Note: All uploads timeout after 2 hours of processing. If a spreadsheet has many rows, it's possible you may run into a timeout issue. Review “Handling Upload Timeouts” for more information. To run the upload in the background, so that you can focus on other tasks, click “Run in Background”. Next, enter the values you want for your new item, such as bid, budget or status.

Remove an item

To remove a keyword, ad or any other item:

  1. Download a spreadsheet report for the items you want to remove.
  2. In your downloaded bulksheet, find the row that contains the item.
  3. In the "Action" column for that row, enter Remove.
  4. Upload your bulksheet.

Keyword bulksheets

  1. Type the keyword in the Keyword column. Use square braces ([ ]) or quotes ("") around the keyword to specify exact or phrase match.
    • Keywords that are synced from an advertising platform won’t be surrounded by quotes ("") in the UI. Phrase match keywords created using bulksheets will be surrounded by quotes ("") in the UI.
    • You won’t be able to edit the keyword or match type column for an existing keyword. When you change a keyword or match type, the old keyword is removed and a new one is created. Bulk uploads work the same way. So, if you want to edit a keyword or match type in an editable report, you’ll have to remove the current keyword and create a new keyword with your desired changes.
  2. Enter the ad group name in the Ad group column.

Ads bulksheets

You can’t edit the text for an existing ad. When you change an ad, the old ad is removed and a new ad is created. The same is the case with bulk uploads. Therefore, if you want to edit an ad offline in a bulksheet, you have to remove the current ad and create a new ad with your desired changes.

Campaign bulksheets

When you download a spreadsheet, certain columns can’t be edited because they’re used only when creating a campaign. Learn about Bulksheet schema changes in the new Search Ads 360.
