Use your business data to manage campaigns

Use business data dimensions to organize reports

To group reporting data by the business data you've defined,

  1. Navigate to an advertiser.

Steps for navigating to an advertiser
    1. Click the navigation bar to display navigation options.

    2. In the "Agency" list, click on the agency that contains the advertiser. You can search for an agency by name or scroll through the list.

    3. In the "Advertiser" list, click on the advertiser.

    4. Click Apply or press the Enter key.

Search Ads 360 displays the advertiser page, which contains data for all of the advertiser’s engine accounts.

  2. In the left navigation panel, click Business data.

  3. In the reporting table, click the View report link next to the name of a business data table. The "View report" link navigates to the Dimensions tab.

The link sends you to the Dimensions tab. In the reporting table, you'll see one row for each business data entity that has metrics attributed to the entity during the report's time range.

For example, if you click the View reports link for the Hotel table, you'll see one row of engine metrics for each hotel that is attributed with at least one impression during the report's time range.

  4. Optionally adjust the report's time range.

  5. To view Floodlight conversions attributed to each business data row, do either of the following:

  6. To drill down and segment the report by other business data -- or by other data such as device type, geographic region, or time -- click the Segment: dimension name button, which appears above the reporting summary graph. Then select a segment.

  7. Optionally download the data for offline analysis.

You can also access business data dimensions directly from the Dimensions tab:
  1. Navigate to an advertiser or lower scope.
For example, if you want to see advertising data across all of your engine accounts, navigate to your advertiser. If you want to focus on a specific engine account, navigate to the engine account.

  2. Click the Dimensions▼ tab, then click the Business data category.
The dimension list displays all columns you've defined in your business data tables.
The dimension list displays all columns you've defined in your Business Data tables.

  3. Select a dimension from the list.

Dimensions reports are not available for ads

If you apply business data directly to ads, the Dimensions tab will not report on those ads. For example, if you apply Hotels.Tier business directly to your ads, when you select Hotels.Tier on the Dimensions tab, the report will be empty.

Here's a slightly more complex example:

  1. You apply Hotels.Tier business data to a campaign, and select a value of 3.
  2. For two ads in the same campaign, you override the inherited value by applying Hotels.Tier directly to the ads and selecting a value of 4.
  3. When you select Hotels.Tier on the Dimensions tab:
    • The row that reports data for Hotels.Tier = 3 will contain data from all ads in the campaign except the two ads that override the campaign setting.
    • The row that reports data for Hotels.Tier = 4 will be empty, since that business data was applied directly to ads, and the Dimensions tab does not report on data below the ad group level.

The recommended practice is to apply business data to ad groups and let ads inherit the ad group's business data.
