Create and manage social engine accounts

Create an sFTP endpoint to import social performance metrics

Search Ads 360 doesn't automatically retrieve social performance and engagement metrics directly from the engine. Instead, you use a PMD or the social engine itself to send metrics to a secure FTP endpoint you create in Search Ads 360.

What's secure FTP?

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a standard way of uploading files into a computer system. To ensure that the social metrics you upload are available only in a specific advertiser and social engine account, you create a connection point (endpoint) for each PMD. The endpoint provides a unique internet address for uploading files and a separate storage area that Search Ads 360 uses to process the files.

Finally, Search Ads 360 uses a secure version of FTP, which encrypts data as it's transferred over the internet. This ensures privacy and integrity of your data. Secure FTP is usually abbreviated as sFTP.

Create an endpoint

If you use multiple PMDs within an advertiser, create a separate endpoint for each PMD. If you're sending metrics directly from the social engine, create just one endpoint.

  1. Sign into Search Ads 360 with a Google account that has agency manager or advertiser manager permissions.
  2. Navigate to the advertiser that contains the social engine account.

Steps for navigating to an advertiser
    1. Click the navigation bar to display navigation options.

    2. In the "Agency" list, click on the agency that contains the advertiser. You can search for an agency by name or scroll through the list.

    3. In the "Advertiser" list, click on the advertiser.

    4. Click Apply or press the Enter key.

Search Ads 360 displays the advertiser page, which contains data for all of the advertiser’s engine accounts.

  3. In the left navigation panel, click Advertiser settings.

  4. Click the Integrations▼ tab and select sFTP connections.

  5. Click + sFTP connection, which appears above the reporting table.

  6. In sFTP connection name, enter a name for the connection.
The name only appears in Search Ads 360. Choose a name that clarifies the purpose of the connection. For example:
    Social metrics: Brand Networks

  7. From the Purpose list, select Social performance metrics upload.

  8. If you use a PMD, select the type of PMD from the External system list.
Otherwise, select the social engine's editing tool from the External system list.

  9. Click Generate.
Search Ads 360 creates a connection point and displays the details under Connection details (generated by Search Ads 360. You'll use these details to upload metrics.

The username and password generated by Search Ads 360 cannot be edited.

  10. Copy the password and paste it into a password manager or some other system you use to store passwords securely.
Once you click Save, you can't view the password again. If you lose the password, you can reset it.

  11. Click Save to close the endpoint details and permanently hide the password.

Ready to start importing performance metrics?

The steps you take to import performance metrics depend on the social engine and PMD you use:
