You can change any of the following settings for an existing automated rule that was created after April 30, 2013:
-
The rule's name
-
The conditions that trigger the rule's action
-
The action the rule carries out
-
The rule's schedule
For example, if you created a rule that runs each night and sends a notification if the average CPC for a group of specific keywords is greater than $10, you can make any of the following changes:
-
Add or remove email addresses for the notification. Or instead of sending a notification, pause the keywords.
-
Instead of triggering the action when the average CPC is greater than $10, you can change the trigger to $20 average CPC.
-
Instead of running nightly, you can change the rule to run weekly.
Note that you can't broaden the scope of a rule. For example, if you originally created a rule after navigating to a specific campaign and clicking the Keywords tab, the rule applies to all keywords in the specific campaign. You can't change the rule to apply to all keywords in the engine account
However, you can effectively narrow a rule's scope by changing the rule's conditions. For example, if you originally scoped a rule to all keywords in a campaign, you can add conditions that trigger the rule's action only for keywords in specific ad groups.
Editing creates a new rule
When you save your edits to a rule, Search Ads 360 removes the old rule and creates a new version of the rule with updated settings. The change log for the new version is reset, but you can view the change log for previous versions of the rule.
When you view the edited rule in the Rules reporting table, the Date created column shows the date on which you edited the rule. (That is, the Date created column shows when the current version of a rule was created.)
