Learn about Google Store trade-in process timelines

When you buy a new Pixel device, you can get credit when you trade in your old device through Google Store. Trade-in through Google Store is available in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States.

After you order a new device, you can start the trade-in process. Learn how to add a trade-in to an order.

  1. First, you'll receive your new device.
    • You can track your Google Store deliveries.
    • The trade-in estimate for your current device expires 30 days after you receive a new device.
      • If your device is dispatched more than 30 days after your new device was delivered, its assessed value may decrease based on changes to its market value. The current market value is determined by the trade-in Terms and Conditions.
  2. You'll receive a trade-in kit within five working days after you receive your new device if you've completed your online identity verification.
    • Trade-in kits are dispatched after your new device is sent to you or when you pick up your new device in store. In some cases, the kit may take more than five working days to reach you. If you don't receive your trade-in kit within 10 working days after you receive your new device, contact our support team.
    • If you need to update your address, you can change your trade-in kit delivery address after your new device has been dispatched. If you update the address for your new device before it is dispatched, the trade-in kit is delivered to the same address, in a separate parcel.
  3. Send your trade-in device.
  4. Google Store receives the trade-in devices.
    • As soon as your trade-in device is received, it'll usually be inspected within five working days. You'll be notified of the results via email.
  5. You'll receive your refund.
    • You'll receive a credit to the form of payment used for your new device purchase. Credit card refunds may take up to 14 working days to apply to your card.
    • If the trade-in value credit exceeds the cost of your new Pixel device, the excess amount is provided as Google Store credit.
    • If the post-inspection value is less than 75% of the estimated trade-in value, PCS Wireless returns your device and you won't receive a credit.
