Before you begin
You can integrate your BigCommerce account with Google Ads or Google Analytics for free. To set up integration, you’ll need a valid BigCommerce account.
The instructions for setting up the Google tag are different for different tag IDs, so you’ll need to follow the instructions that correspond with your tag.
If you have a tag starting with "AW-"
Tags that start with “AW-” are generally associated with Google Ads accounts.
- Go to apps.
- Open Marketplace and click the BigCommerce.com/Apps button to open the Marketplace.
- Search for “Google Ads and Listings” in the search box and click the Ads and Listings on Google app.
- On the next screen, click Get this app.
- Click Log in to sign in to your store.
- Click Install.
- Review the terms, check the box, and click Confirm.
- Now it's time to set up the app. Start by selecting your storefront and country the click "Continue".
- Note: Your storefront must be set up and launched to proceed.
- Next, click Sign in with Google. This will open a popup window to grant the necessary permissions.
- Once connected, click Continue.
- Choose a Google Merchant account connected to your Google Account from the drop down and click Connect. You can also create a new Merchant Center account by clicking Create new account.
- Once connected, click Continue.
- Choose a Google Ads account connected to your Google Account from the drop down and click Connect. You can also create a new Ads account by clicking Create new account.
- Once connected, click Activate channel.
- Your account is now configured for Google Ads.
If you have a tag starting with "ignored"
Tags that start with “ignored” are generally associated with Google Analytics accounts.
- Login to your BigCommerce account.
- Once logged in, click Settings on the left hand panel.
- Scroll to the “Advanced” section, and choose Data Solutions.
- In the “Web analytics” section, click Connect under “Google Analytics 4”.
- Paste your Google tag in the box provided and press Connect.
You have now successfully deployed your Google tag to your BigCommerce site.
