Some passes that you can save in Google Wallet contain sensitive info. These passes have extra protection to help keep your sensitive data safe.
You can add the following passes as private to Google Wallet (availability subject to your location):
Important: Google saves your private pass with the info that you’ve chosen to provide. Google doesn't independently verify this information and can't confirm its completeness, accuracy, or efficacy with any provider.
How private passes work
Unlike other passes such as event tickets or transit passes, private passes:
- Include a "private pass” label in the card details to easily help you identify them as a private pass.
- Require you to verify it’s you to add, view, and use them in Google Wallet. You can do this with your fingerprint, PIN, or other methods.
- Aren't used to personalize your Wallet experience by default.
- Aren't shared by default with other Google products like Maps, Assistant, and Shopping.
Add a private pass to Google Wallet
- Add health passes.
- Add US Driver's Licenses or State IDs.
- Add other types of IDs and sensitive credentials.
How to delete a private pass
- On your phone, open the Google Wallet app .
- Find the private pass that you want to remove.
- Tap the private pass.
- At the top right, tap More Remove.
Fix issues with your private passes
Can't add your private pass
If you get the error message, ”Can’t add pass on this device”:
- On your phone, find the email or text that your provider sent you to add your pass.
- Tap and hold the link.
- To open the link in your web browser, such as Chrome, select Open in Browser.
- Tap Add to Google Wallet.
If that doesn't fix the issue:
- On your phone, open Settings .
- In the search bar, type:
Opening links
and tap it. - Swipe to and tap Google Play Services.
- Turn on Open supported links.
- Open the link from your provider again and try to set up your card or test record.
Convert files to private passes
