Types of cards & passes
Important: Some features may not be available in your country. Learn which countries or regions are supported on Google Wallet.
You can manage different types of cards and passes on Google Wallet including:
Payment cards
Tickets & passes
Retail cards
Access cards
License & IDs
Health
Tip: Some passes that you can save in Google Wallet contain sensitive info. Learn more on how private passes work.
Add items to Google Wallet
Important:
- Items may be managed differently across different devices and applications.
- If you get an error message when you save the pass, there may be an issue with the pass. To resolve the issue, contact the pass issuer.
- Open the Google Wallet app .
- At the bottom, tap Add to Wallet .
- Select the type of item that you want to add.
- To add the item to Google Wallet, follow the on-screen instructions.
If you’re signed in to your Google account on your phone, find the “Add to Google Wallet” or the “Add to GPay” option on select websites or apps. This option lets you add a pass or a card to Google Wallet directly.
To add a pass:
- On your mobile device, open the Google Wallet app .
- At the bottom, tap Add to Wallet .
- This option can typically be found under "Tickets," "Passes," or "Cards” on the pass issuer's site.
- If you have more than one Google Account, choose the one you want to save the card or pass to.
- Read and accept the terms of service.
- If you have the Google Wallet app: The card or pass is added to your wallet.
- If you don’t have the Google Wallet app: You’re prompted to download the app to continue. Follow the on-screen instructions.
To add a card:
- On your card issuer app or site, tap Add to GPay.
- Select which debit or credit card you want to add.
- To confirm, tap Add.
- Read and accept the terms of service for Google Pay and your card issuer.
- Tap View in Wallet.
- If you have the Google Wallet app: The card or pass is added to your wallet.
- If you don’t have the Google Wallet app: You’re prompted to download the app to continue. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Important:
- Only users in a supported country or region can access passes on the Google Wallet website. Learn where you can use Google Wallet.
- Only certain passes can be added on the website.
You can manually add the following pass types on the Google Wallet website:
- Loyalty cards
- Gift cards
To add a pass:
- Go to the Google Wallet website.
- Click Add pass.
- Find and click the merchant loyalty program or gift card name. You can also search for the merchant loyalty program or gift card name.
- Enter your card info.
- Click Add.
Tips:
- Loyalty cards also include rewards and membership cards.
- Gift cards from Google Play aren't supported.
- If you can’t find the merchant loyalty program or gift card name, it means the merchant isn't supported.
To add an item from your Gmail inbox automatically:
- On your Android phone, open the Gmail app .
- Tap Menu Settings the account that you want to change.
- To turn on data-sharing, find “General.”
- Under “General,” turn Smart features and personalization in other Google products on or off.
- Once turned on, prior items in your inbox will be available in Google Wallet.
Tips:
- Only the following are supported for auto-import from Gmail:
- Loyalty cards
- Event tickets
- Train tickets and boarding passes
- If you delete the email with your pass, loyalty card, or ticket, it’s removed from Google Wallet. The deleted email stays in your trash folder for 30 days before it’s permanently deleted.
- You can add the deleted pass again with the Google Wallet app.
You can take a picture or upload a photo of your pass or barcode to add it to your Google Wallet.
Add a pass from a photo:
- Open the Google Wallet app .
- Tap Add to Wallet Everything Else.
- Read and accept the consent terms.
- If you don't accept it, you can only create passes from images with barcodes.
- Take a clear picture or select the photo from your phone.
- Preview the information.
- If needed, edit manually.
- To save the pass, tap Add.
Tip: You can find the original photo used to create the pass just below the saved pass.
You can save passes to Google Wallet from an image. Examples include:
- Library cards
- Gym passes
- Parking passes
Add a pass from a photo:
- Take a clear and high-resolution photo of the pass with your phone.
- Open the Google Wallet app .
- Tap Add to Wallet Photo.
- Select a clear and large photo of the barcode.
- Add a name and description for the pass.
- Tap Add.
- To use the pass, select the pass and scan the barcode or QR code at a reader.
Tip: To find the original image used to create the pass, in the top right, tap More .
Important: A downloaded pass that you convert may be limited in functionality and you may not get updates about the pass.
You can download and save passes from different places online in Google Wallet. To save a pass you downloaded to Google Wallet, convert it to the original format.
- To add the pass to Google Wallet, open the pass.
- Select Google Wallet.
- To make Google Wallet app as default, tap Always.
- Tap Continue.
- You may have to verify your identity.
- Tap I understand.
Tip: After the pass is added, you’ll find a confirmation message.
Move single device passes from Google Wallet
You can only save certain passes to a single device or Google Account. You need to use the Google Wallet app to save these types of passes.
To move them to a different device:
- Remove the pass from the current device or Google Account.
- Open the pass link on the new device.
Remove items from Google Wallet
Important:
- When you remove a pass connected to your Google Account on one device, it’s removed across all devices.
- Some passes can be device specific and not connected to your Google Account. If you remove these from one device, you don’t necessarily have to remove it from all devices.
- When you remove a card added in your Google Wallet on a device, it only removes it from that specific device.
- On your phone, open the Google Wallet app .
- Find the card or pass that you want to remove.
- For cards: You need to swipe left to find it.
- For passes: You need to swipe up to find it.
- Tap the card or pass.
- At the top right, tap More .
- For a card, tap Remove payment method.
- For a pass, tap Remove.
To re-add any items that you remove, follow the steps to add items in the relevant sections above.
- On your smartwatch, open the Google Wallet app .
- Scroll to the pass you want to remove.
- Tap the pass you want to remove.
- Scroll in the pass details screen.
- Tap Remove pass.
Important:
- Only users in a supported country or region can access passes on the Google Wallet website.
- Not all passes are visible on the website. Examples include:
- Private passes, such as IDs and health insurance cards.
- Single device passes.
To delete a pass:
- Go to the Google Wallet website.
- Select the pass that you want to remove.
- Click Remove.
Share passes, tickets & cards
You can share some passes from your Google Wallet to someone else’s Google Wallet. To share passes, tickets, and cards:
- Tap Share .
- You can share a pass if it has Share above it.
- Tap Share now.
- Once you share the link, the recipient can forward it to anyone.
- After you’ve shared the link, you can’t unsend it.
Transfer passes, tickets & cards
Some passes, tickets, or cards allow you to give it to another person. This depends on pass type and is not always supported. To check if transfers are supported and for more details on the transfer process, contact the pass issuer.
