To make sure the beacons work, perform a test drive through your tunnel with Waze. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Find and whitelist your Waze username
Give the Waze username of each tester to the Waze team. That username will be whitelisted for navigating using Waze Beacons.
Find your username
- Open the Waze app
- Type ##@username in the search bar and tap Search
Your username will be shown in a pop up on screen
- Send your username to your contact person at Waze
Verify that your username is whitelisted:
- Disable Bluetooth on your device
- Open Waze
- Search in Waze for a destination that requires you to drive through your tunnel
- Start driving. Check the following:
- Success – If the app prompts you to enable Bluetooth on your device, your user is whitelisted for testing
- Failure – If you do not get the pop up, please contact us and we'll check it for you
Step 2: Turn on debug mode
The following pop up appears when debug mode is activated:
Step 3: Do a test drive
- Enable Bluetooth on your device
- Search in Waze for a destination that requires you to drive through your tunnel
- Navigate through the tunnel, and send debug logs after every tunnel tube segment (see Step 4 below)
Step 4: Send logs
To test that your beacons are working properly, we need to see the debug logs from your test drive. During your test drive, do the following as you exit each tunnel tube segment:
1. Tap
2. Tap Debug
Step 5: If we ask you to send Moledebug logs
Depending on the test results, we might require logs in “MoleDebug” mode. This lets us make sure your device was searching for beacons during your test drive.
Before activating "moledebug mode" make sure your waze is already in regular debug mode (2##2).
- Active Moledebug mode in Waze, type ##@moledebug in the Waze app search bar and tap Search
The following pop up appears when Moledebug is activated.
Now, repeat your test drive in steps 2 & 3, sending logs after each tunnel tube segment.
