Waze Beacons are maintenance free. The casing is sealed to protect against water and dust, in compliance with the IP67 rating, and shouldn’t be forced open.
The beacon’s battery is not user replaceable. A malfunctioning beacon due to a drained battery or any other issue should be completely replaced with a new one.
Tunnel maintenance
Waze Beacons are durable for pressure washing with water and soft brushes like the ones shown here:
Using a hard brush machine like the one shown below, can potentially damage the beacons and cause breakage. In this case, make sure the beacons are installed at a location out of reach of the brushes.
