To create a new interstitial ad:
-
Select File > New... from the top menu.
-
In the "Create New Blank File" dialog, choose Interstitial as the ad type.
-
Choose from the following options:
-
Name - Give the ad a name. This will be the name of the HTML file.
-
Location - Choose where you want to save the file. You can save your file locally on your computer.
-
Environment - Select the ad environment where you want the ad to run. Google Web Designer supports Display & Video 360, Google Ads, and Google AdMob ad environments. You can also create a non-Google ad.
-
Orientation - Set the orientation. Choose Single if you want the ad to display in only landscape or only portrait mode (for a website, for example). If you want to create a different layout depending on the orientation (for a mobile phone, for example), choose Dual.
Dual orientation
Google Web Designer sets up new dual-orientation ads in two different ways, depending on whether you're using responsive layout or not.
- Using responsive layout: A single page is created, with automatically created media rules for each orientation.
- Not using responsive layout: Separate pages for portrait and landscape orientation are automatically created, using the Alternate page property to connect the two.
Important: If you create a non-responsive ad using separate pages for each orientation, but later change the ad to use responsive layout, you will need to delete the Alternate page and add separate landscape and portrait media rules for your ad to work correctly.
-
Dimensions - Either check Responsive layout to create an ad that automatically sizes to match the viewport or ad slot it's displayed in, or set the dimensions for the ad if you know the specific size. Common banner and expandable sizes are listed in their respective dropdown lists. If you want to use a size that isn't listed, select Custom from the dropdown, and enter the width and height manually.
-
Animation mode - Select the animation mode that you want to use initially (you can switch at any time). Quick mode lets you animate your ad scene by scene, while Advanced mode lets you animate individual elements on their own timeline
