Resize images and videos in Google Web Designer

There are two ways to resize images and videos in Google Web Designer:

  • Stretch or shrink the image with your mouse, using the Selection tool
  • Edit the width and height dimensions in the Properties panel

Resized images change their aspect ratio to conform to the new boundaries, while videos maintain their original aspect ratio, staying as large as possible within the new boundaries.

To resize an image or video using the Selection tool:

  1. Click the Selection tool in the toolbar on the left.
  2. Make sure the Transform control checkbox is checked in the tool options bar at the top.
  3. Select the image or video you want to resize.
  4. Drag one of the control points on the sides or corners of the selection box. The width and height of the element display during resizing.
    • Hold the Shift key while dragging to maintain the original aspect ratio of the image or video.

Resizing SVGs

If you're resizing an SVG image or shape to make it larger, use the width and height properties rather than 3D scaling. If you're using the Selection tool transform control to resize the SVG element, you may need to change the sizing method.

To resize an image or video using the Properties panel:

  1. Click the Selection tool in the toolbar on the left.
  2. Select the image or video you want to resize.
  3. In the Properties panel, change the width and height values.
    • To maintain the original aspect ratio, make sure the Constrain aspect ratio button is selected.

Scaling images and videos

If the original image file and the image element have different dimensions, set scaling options to control how the image displays.

Videos only have scaling options in video ads.
