Google Workspace to Google Workspace migration

Review the tables below for information on what features are supported and unsupported when you're running a Google Workspace to Google Workspace migration using Google Workspace Migrate.

Gmail

Supported Gmail features Notes & monitoring points
  • Messages
  • Attachments
  • Filters and blocked addresses
  • Email delegation
  • POP & IMAP settings
Messages in Trash and Spam are skipped.
Labels and label structure Monitoring point: Label colors
Signature The default signature for the primary Gmail account is migrated.

Monitoring point: You must also use an identity mapping (map the source user to the target user). For details, go to Create & manage an identity mapping.

Stars Only the default star color and shape is migrated.
Forwarding settings Forwarding to an external domain is not preserved.

Monitoring point: Email forwarding

Drive attachments and hyperlinks Drive attachments and hyperlinks in messages are unaltered during a migration. They continue to link to the original content.
Scheduled send status The message is migrated, but you must reschedule it manually. 

Unsupported Gmail features

  • Messages in Trash and Spam
  • Forwarding to an external domain
  • Send as settings
  • Snooze status
  • Signatures from nonprimary Gmail addresses
  • Migration to Google Groups

Calendar

Supported Google Calendar features Notes & monitoring points
Primary and secondary calendars  
Calendar events (including recurring calendar events) Events are migrated even if the creator or organizer of the event is outside of your organization.
Calendar event attachments If the Drive item is also migrated, Google Workspace Migrate reattaches the item to the event.
Calendar permissions Permissions to share calendars with users, groups, organizations, and the public are migrated.
Calendar resources You must first create the calendar resources  manually or by bulk import in the target account. Then, their calendars and event associations can be migrated. For details, go to Set up a calendar resource migration.

Unsupported Calendar features

  • Events (external domain aliases)
  • Video and audio conferencing links in events
  • Extended properties
  • Google Meet links
  • Reminders
  • Deleted Calendar events

Drive

Supported Google Drive features Notes & monitoring points
  • Drive folder structures
  • Files and file versions outside of the Google ecosystem (.docx, .pdf, and so on)

Drive platform-specific files and comments Supported Drive platform-specific files are:

Drive folder and file metadata Modified date and last modified user metadata is preserved for folders and files.

  • Google platform file revisions (for example, revisions of Sheets and Docs)

Groups

Groups Monitoring point: Groups 
Members Roles are migrated.
Settings:
  • Group description
  • Who can see group
  • Who can join group
  • Who can post
  • Who can view conversations
  • Who can view members
Monitoring point: Other settings, including member privacy, posting policies, email options, and member moderation are skipped. To manually update the settings, go to Update group details.

Unsupported Google Groups features

  • Group email history and archive
  • Member subscription preferences, pending members, and ban status
  • Migration from Gmail

Other types of data

Other supported types of Google data Notes & monitoring points
  • Google Tasks
  • Lists
  • Tasks are migrated as part of Gmail data. To do so, you must turn on the setting in the settings template. For details, review Migrate Mail content.
  • Monitoring points:
    • Only the primary recurring task is migrated.
    • Email links in tasks aren't migrated.
    • The date of the task is migrated but not the start time. 

Other unsupported features
