Why do viewers choose to become members?
It’s important to understand the motivations behind your viewers’ decision to become channel members. Doing so allows you to design perks and a tiered pricing structure that taps into what your fans value most.
- Does your viewer want to feel closer to you? Are they motivated by the exclusivity of being a member? Do they want to be recognized? Or are they simply trying to show their support?
What value can you offer members in return?
When designing your perks, it’s important to think about what will deliver the value to members while still providing a good return on investment.
- A member motivated by exclusivity is willing to pay for exclusive perks and content not available anywhere else. Meanwhile, a viewer who’s motivation is to simply show their support of you doesn’t always expect big-time perks in return. Consider what perks you can sustainably offer for your members.
Perks vs. time investment
When selecting your perks, consider how costly or time-consuming it will be to deliver them.
- Your basic offering for memberships should be lightweight perks that are easy to deliver.
- Your premium perks that take more time and cost to produce and are usually reserved for the higher tier and most engaged members.
