Channel memberships let viewers join your channel through monthly payments and get exclusive members-only perks in return, like badges, emoji, and other goods.
To get started with memberships for your channel:
- Review the eligibility requirements, location availability, and policies and guidelines for channel memberships.
- Turn on memberships for your channel or for your network.
- Create perks and levels for your channel’s memberships program.
Turn on channel memberships
To earn revenue from channel memberships, you (and your MCN) must first accept the Commerce Product Module (CPM). For more info on the CPM, view our YouTube Commerce Products monetization policies.
Turn on memberships for your channel:
- Open the YouTube Studio mobile app .
- At the bottom of the screen, tap Earn .
- Tap the Memberships card and follow the on-screen instructions. If a Memberships card doesn’t surface, tap Get started in the “Memberships” section.
- If it’s your first time turning on memberships, follow the on-screen instructions to sign the Commerce Product Module (CPM).
Turn off channel memberships
You can turn off memberships for your channel at any time. Keep in mind that if you turn off channel memberships, your levels, members, and perks are not saved. All recurring monthly payments by members will be canceled.
If you turn on channel memberships again, viewers must voluntarily join your channel membership program again.
Turn off memberships for your channel:
- Open the YouTube Studio mobile app .
- At the bottom of the screen, tap Earn .
- Tap Memberships.
- Next to “Your memberships offer,” tap More .
- Tap Disable channel memberships .
- Tap the box next to “I understand and want to turn off memberships for all of my fans” and tap Turn off.
Once you’ve turned on channel memberships you can create perks and levels for your channel’s memberships program.
