Learn how to use expanded analytics reports

In YouTube Analytics, you can click ADVANCED MODE or SEE MORE beneath reports to get specific data, compare performance, and export data.

Use the expanded report

Match the numbers of the following features to the image above to learn how to use the expanded report.

1. Switch to see analytics for a specific video, group, or playlist.

2. Filter data by geography, subscription status, and more.

3. Change the metric in the chart.

4. Select a secondary metric.

5. Choose a dimension to break down your data in a different way.

6. Export your report.

7. Compare different videos, groups, or time periods.

8. Change the date range.

Filter by geography

Use the Geography filter to get data for a specific geography.

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
  2. From the left menu, select Analytics.
  3. Under a report, click ADVANCED MODE or SEE MORE.
  4. At the top of the page, click Geography and choose the location/regions you want to get data for. Note: You can click select location/regions to view a breakdown of specific data.

View data by age or gender

Use the Viewer age and Viewer gender dimensions to see how much of your traffic is coming from each demographic.

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
  2. From the left menu, select Analytics.
  3. Under a report, click ADVANCED MODE or SEE MORE.
  4. At the top of the page, select Viewer age to view ages 13–65+ years or Viewer gender to view Female, Male, and User-specified data.

Note: A filter name can be crossed out if it's not compatible with the current view, or if your video doesn’t have enough traffic. Learn more about new and returning viewers.

Edit the chart

Change the metric in the chart

Just above the chart area, there’s a box that shows which metric is selected for the chart. Click this box to choose a different metric for your chart.

Create a multi-line chart

You can check the boxes next to individual rows in the table. Each item checked will have a corresponding line in the chart. The “total” row is selected by default.

Get more detail for an individual row

Rows in your report written in blue text can be clicked to get more detailed data.
For instance, if you’re viewing traffic sources, you can click results like “YouTube search” to learn which specific searches led to traffic on your channel.

Add or remove metrics from the table

To add a metric to your report, use the blue plus button .
To remove a metric from your report, select More and then Hide metric.

Other options

Switch between videos

In the top-left corner, analytics shows either your channel name or a video name. Click this name to pull up a video selector. You can search for a video by name or select one from the list. You can also select a group or your channel.
You can also point to any video title and select Analytics .

Compare performance

Select “Compare to..." to compare videos or groups. You can also change the timeframes, report, and metrics.
Tip: Group several videos together to view their combined performance all at once. Learn more about YouTube Analytics groups.

Export data

You can export data to check large sets of metrics at the channel or video level. If you're a Content Manager, you can also download reports for several channels or use YouTube Analytics API to download custom reports. Downloaded reports are limited to 500 rows. Use the YouTube Reporting API to download more than 500 rows of data.

Export data for a channel or video

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
  2. From the left menu, select Analytics.
  3. Find the report you’d like to download and click ADVANCED MODE or SEE MORE.
  4. Make any adjustments you’d like to the report.
  5. At the top, select Export current view and choose your preferred file format.

To comply with GDPR, we have a new data retention policy. Reports from CMS and the Reporting API will be deleted 60 days after they're published to the UI. Historical data reports in the Reporting API will be available for 30 days from the time they're generated.

Deleted content in YouTube Analytics

YouTube will remove deleted videos, playlists, and channels from YouTube Analytics, and the YouTube Analytics API when you request it. Data from deleted items will still be counted in aggregate stats and totals. To get an accurate number, use the totals in YouTube Analytics.

Groups

Groups are a customizable collection of up to 500 of your videos, playlists, or channels. You can arrange similar pieces of content together and see their data in one place with groups.

Create and manage groups

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
  2. From the left menu, select Analytics.
  3. Click ADVANCED MODE or SEE MORE to view the expanded analytics report.
  4. In the top left, click your channel name in the search bar.
  5. Create group:
    1. Select the Groups tab, then select CREATE NEW GROUP.
    2. Enter a name for your group, select videos, and Save.
  6. Manage groups:
    1. Select the Groups tab, then choose a group.
    2. You can edit , delete , and download data for your groups.
