Make the most of fundraising on YouTube

YouTube can be a powerful force for good in the world, whether that’s raising awareness or raising funds for the causes and organizations that you care about.

We know that so many of you are looking for ways to give to your communities and make a change. To help you achieve your goals, here are some examples of how to make the most of fundraising through YouTube.

Some examples of what you can do:

  • Fundraise with YouTube Giving: Eligible channels in certain locations can fundraise for available nonprofits by adding the Donate button to their videos and live streams. Learn how to set up a fundraiser here.
  • If you’re not eligible for YouTube Giving: Use End Screens to link to an external fundraiser. End screens can be added to the last 5–20 seconds of a video. There are several approved third party fundraising sites (like GoFundMe, JustGiving) that can be linked to in end screens.
  • Donate your own revenue from specific videos: Make original content that your audience loves to watch. You can tell your viewers that you will donate the money you earn to a specific nonprofit. But, you should not encourage them to click or watch ads to increase the contribution.

Some examples of what you can’t do:

  • Don’t encourage spammy activity like repeated watching and clicking ads in your videos. As a reminder spammy activity is a violation of our Fake Engagement policy and our policies, and your video may be removed. When we identify this behavior, creators will not be paid for these views and clicks, and advertisers will not be charged.
  • Don’t upload the work of other creators or artists without making sufficient changes. If you’re going to use work you didn’t create where you want to take donations, your video could be claimed under copyright protections.
  • Don’t make false claims about donating to the organization or nonprofit. YouTube is not responsible for verifying that funds creators pledge to donate are received by nonprofits.
