Watch while signed in

There are many advantages to using YouTube Kids while signed in, including customizing your child’s experience and setting up parental controls. Even if you sign in to YouTube on another smart TV, streaming device, or game console, your child’s same YouTube Kids profile will be ready to use.

To get started, download the YouTube app and sign in with the same account that you used to set up your kid’s YouTube Kids profile. Then:

  1. Open the YouTube app on your smart TV, streaming device, or game console.
  2. If the app opens to the “Who’s Watching?” screen, select your kid’s profile to enter YouTube Kids.
  3. If the app opens signed in to an account:
    1. Go to the left-hand menu.
    2. Select your profile picture to open the accounts page.
    3. Select your kid’s account to switch to YouTube Kids.
Note: If you select an account that is both a supervised YouTube account and set up for YouTube Kids, your kid will get the supervised experience.

If one of your options is a YouTube Kids profile you no longer use, you can delete it from all devices.

Watch while signed out

Once you’ve downloaded the YouTube app, your child can watch YouTube Kids even when signed out. To get started:

  1. Open the YouTube app on your smart TV, streaming device, or game console.
  2. Go to the left-hand menu.
  3. Select the profile picture to open the accounts page.
  4. Select Set up YouTube Kids.
  5. Select Set up Guest Account.
  6. Follow the steps on the screen to create a YouTube Kids profile that you can use while signed out.

Once you’ve followed these steps, there will be a YouTube Kids profile option when you’re on the accounts page or the “Who’s Watching?” screen. When you select that profile, you’ll go to YouTube Kids.

If you want to remove this YouTube guest profile at any point, you can:

  1. Open the YouTube app on your smart TV, streaming device, or game console.
  2. Go to the left-hand menu.
  3. Select the profile picture to open the accounts page.
  4. Select the account management button  below the YouTube Kids profile.
  5. Select Remove from this device.
