As a Google Workspace administrator, you can turn Google Vids on or off for users in your organization. In most cases, Google Vids is on for your organization by default.
To use Vids in your organization...
To create new Vids, a user must have one of the following:
- an eligible edition of Google Workspace or Google Workspace for Education.
- a Gemini for Google Workspace license.
Any Google Workspace user can view, edit, or comment on Google Vids files that have been shared with them.
Note: Vids also requires the following services, which are on by default for most organizations:
If you turn Vids off...
No one in your organization can create Vids files, or open Vids files shared with them, including files shared with them from other organizations when Vids is off. This is true regardless of whether your organization has Gemini for Google Workspace.
Turn Vids on or off
Before you begin: To turn a service on or off for certain users, put their accounts in an organizational unit (to control access by department) or add them to an access group (to allow access for users across or within departments).

Sign in to your Google Admin console.
Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

In the Admin console, go to Menu AppsGoogle WorkspaceDrive and Docs Google Vids.

To turn the service on or off for everyone in your organization, click On or Off and then click Save.

(Optional) To turn a service on or off for an organizational unit:
- At the left, select the organizational unit.
- To change the Service status, select On or Off.
- Choose one:
- If the Service status is set to Inherited and you want to keep the updated setting, even if the parent setting changes, click Override.
- If the Service status is set to Overridden, either click Inherit to revert to the same setting as its parent, or click Save to keep the new setting, even if the parent setting changes.
