Create a non-customizable project from a template

If a template doesn't quite meet your needs, you can open and edit Ad Creative Studio's display templates with Google Web Designer. After you make edits, you can upload the edited template as a display project using HTML5 files.

To edit a template:

If you're using a default template and you removed some of the supported display sizes, you can add them again at any time. If all of the supported sizes are already added, you won't be able to add more.

1. Next to Dimensions, click the Select creative sizes menu. It's a drop-down menu that shows the current number of sizes (for example, "8 sizes"). The size selection window opens. On the left side, the sizes are organized in groups. On the right side is a list with each selected size.
   • To add all of the sizes the template supports, click All sizes.
   • To add a group of similarly shaped ads, click the group to add. (Size groups include: square and rectangle, skyscraper, leaderboard, and mobile.)
   • To add just one size (for example, 300 × 100), you can expand the groups on the left and select the checkbox next to 300 × 100.
2. Click Apply to confirm your size selections.
3. Click Save.

The preview will update to show the sizes you selected. When you export your project, only the sizes you chose will be exported.

1. Next to Dimensions, click the Select creative sizes menu. It shows the number of ad sizes for the project (for example, "21 sizes"). The size selection window opens. On the left side, the sizes are organized in groups. On the right side is a list with each selected size.
   • To remove all sizes, click All sizes.
   • To remove a group of similarly shaped ads, click the size group you want to remove. (Size groups include: square and rectangle, skyscraper, leaderboard, and mobile.)
   • To remove just one size (for example, 300 × 100), you can expand the mobile size group on the left and click 300 × 100. Or on the right, scroll down to the mobile sizes and click Remove 300 × 100.
2. Remove the sizes you don't need and keep the ones you do. If you remove one by mistake, you can add the sizes again later.
3. Click Apply. (If you can't click Apply, make sure at least 1 size is selected.)
4. Click Save.

The preview will update to show the sizes you selected. When you export your project, only the sizes you chose will be exported.

When you start, all of the sizes are selected. Any asset you add will be added to every size. This is helpful when you're adding an asset that's the same across all sizes.

You can tell that all sizes are selected when the number of selected sizes matches the total sizes for the ad. You'll also see blue check marks next to each size in the preview.

1. If all of the sizes aren't selected, press and hold Shift, then click each size group until all sizes are selected.
2. In the Details panel, select the asset you want to add or change. For example, if you want to add a logo image, select "Logo".
3. Choose or add an asset depending on its type:
   • Images : Drag a file from your computer and drop it on Drop file here or click Browse to select an image from your computer or the asset library.
   • Text : Enter the text to display.
   • Links : Enter the destination URL. For some elements, enter the text to display as well.
   • Colors : Enter the hexadecimal color code and opacity percentage.
4. Click Save.

The preview will update to show the new asset.

1. In the preview, click the size dimensions (for example, 120 × 600) or anywhere in the card the ad preview is shown in. (Note: Clicking on the ad preview itself won't work.) A blue check mark is shown next to the selected size, and all other check marks will turn dim.
2. In the Details panel, select the asset you want to add or change. For example, if you want to add a logo image, select "Logo".
3. Choose or add an asset depending on its type:
   • Images : Drag a file from your computer and drop it on Drop file here or click Browse to select an image from the asset library.
   • Text : Enter the text to display.
   • Links : Enter the destination URL. For some elements, enter the text to display as well.
   • Colors : Enter the hexadecimal color code and opacity percentage.
4. Click Save.

The preview will update to show the new asset.

1. Find "Filter by", then click the Select creative sizes to filter by menu. It shows the number of filtered sizes (for example, "21 sizes"). The size selection window opens. On the left side, sizes are organized in groups. On the right side is a list of currently selected sizes.
   • To hide a group of similarly shaped ads, click the group to hide.
   • To hide just one size (for example, 300 × 100), expand the mobile size group on the left and click that size. Or find the selected sizes on the right, scroll down to the mobile sizes, then click Remove 300 × 100.
2. Hide the sizes you don't want to see or edit right now and keep the ones you do want to see.
3. Click Apply. (If you can't click Apply, make sure at least 1 size is selected.)

Only the sizes you selected will be shown in the live preview. You'll only be able to edit these sizes. If you want to edit a size you've hidden

1. Next to "Filter by", click the Select creative sizes to filter by menu. It shows the number of filtered sizes (for example, "2 sizes").
2. Click All sizes.
3. Click Apply.

All sizes will be shown in the live preview, and can be selected and edited.
