[GA4] About detail reports

A detail report is a type of report that provides in-depth information about an area of interest. The typical detail report includes two charts and a table. For example, you can use the following detail report to analyze where new users are coming from on your website or app.

About detail reports

The charts in the first half of the report provide an at-a-glance summary of the data in the table, while the table in the second half lets you analyze, sort, and make sense of your data.

In the top left of the table, you can choose a dimension; then, the values for that dimension appear in the rows below the chosen dimension. The column headers to the right of the dimension header are the metrics; you can click a metric to sort by the metric in the table. To narrow the table down to a specific dimension, use the search box above the dimension picker.

You can change the data that appears in the charts by changing the dimension in the table, sorting by a different metric in the table, or changing the pages in the table.

Find your way around

You can use the following components to manage, interpret, and share the data that appears in the report:

  1. Filters: Focus on a specific subset of the data in your report. For example, you could focus only on data generated by Android devices.
  2. Data quality: Identify how much of your data appears in the report; for example, you can see if any of your data is hidden due to data thresholds or Google Analytics limits.
  3. Date range: Set a different date range in a report, or compare data for one date range with data for another date range.
  4. Comparisons: Evaluate subsets of your data side by side. For example, you could compare all data generated by Android devices and all data generated by iOS devices.
  5. Share and export: Share a link to a report or export a report as a PDF or CSV.
  6. Insights: Understand and act on your data using machine learning and conditions that you configure.
  7. Customize: Customize which dimensions, metrics, and charts appear in the report. Only editors and administrators can see this option.
