With Gemini in Chat, when you have a space or conversation open, you can:
- Summarize that space or conversation.
- Generate a list of action items from that space or conversation.
- Answer specific questions about that space or conversation.

Get started with Gemini in Chat
To summarize, generate action items, or answer questions about an active space or conversation, use Gemini in Chat.
Important: When you use Gemini in Chat, keep the conversation or space related to your prompt open.
- On your computer, go to chat.google.com.
- Open the Chat standalone app or Chat in Gmail.
- At the top right, click Ask Gemini .
- Select from the list of suggestions.
- To get more options, select More suggestions.
- At the bottom, in the prompt box, replace the example text with the information that you want.
- Click Enter.
- At the bottom, in the prompt box, enter a prompt.
- Click Enter.
Tips:
- You can lose your conversation history when:
- You refresh your browser.
- You close and reopen Chat.
- Your computer goes offline.
- To remove your conversation history, click More options Clear history.

Summarize a conversationWhile using Gemini in Chat, you can use Gemini to summarize a conversation you have open. The conversation should be open while using Gemini in Chat.
- In the side panel, you can prompt to ask for a summary or to summarize action items from a conversation that you currently have open.
- Examples:
- "Summarize this conversation."
- "What are the key takeaways in this conversation?”
- After an initial summary is generated, you can ask for a longer summary, "Give me a detailed summary of [topic] discussed in this space."

Give feedback on generated output
Gemini for Google Workspace is constantly learning and may not be able to support your request. Because feedback may be human readable, please do not submit data that contains personal, confidential, or sensitive information.
If you get a suggestion that’s inaccurate or that you feel is unsafe, you can submit feedback. Your feedback can help improve AI-assisted Workspace features and broader Google efforts in AI.
- Below the generated output, select Good suggestion or Bad suggestion .
- In the pop-up window, you can select the data you want to share along with your feedback, including prompts, additional context, and outputs. If you don’t want to share certain data, you can uncheck it.
- If you select Bad suggestion , select Next to select the issue you found and enter additional feedback.
- Select Submit.
To provide general feedback about Gemini, at the top, click Help Send feedback to Google.
