To use a Chromebook without signing in to your Google Account, you can browse as a guest. Guest browsing is useful for temporary use or sharing a device, like if you want to:
- Let someone borrow your Chromebook.
- Borrow someone else’s Chromebook.
- Use a shared or public Chromebook, like at school or a library.

Tip: If you’re using your Chromebook at work or school and can't find "Browse as Guest," your administrator has turned off guest browsing. Only your administrator can turn it back on. For more help, contact your administrator.
What you can and can't do in guest mode
When you sign in with guest mode:
- There’s no Play Store and apps can’t be installed.
- You're required to sign in to first-party applications.
- Saved preferences are unavailable.
- Certain features, like built-in AI, can't be used.
Guest mode stops Chrome from saving your browsing activity, but some information can be shared with others, such as:
- Websites you visit, including the ads and resources used on those sites
- Websites you sign in to
- Your employer, school, or whoever runs the network you’re using
- Your internet service provider
- Search engines
- Search engines may show search suggestions based on your location or activity in your current Incognito browsing session. When you search on Google, Google always estimates the general area that you're searching from. Learn more about location when you search on Google.
Sign out of guest mode
Important: This deletes your files, cookies, website data, and browsing activity.
