Programmatic Guaranteed Cost Per Day (CPD) deal deprecation in the EEA

Display & Video 360 partners and advertisers who have billing addresses within the European Economic Area (EEA) will no longer be able to set up or transact Programmatic Guaranteed Cost per Day (CPD) deals starting on March 6, 2024 and active CPD deals will stop serving. No other deal types (i.e. CPM Sponsorships) will be impacted by this deprecation.

Non-EEA partners & advertisers may also be affected if they have CPD deals where bid requests from the deal are associated with users in the EEA. Display & Video 360 will no longer respond to bid requests associated with users in the EEA.

If you have live CPD deals with end dates that are expected to run past the March 6, 2024 deprecation date you should transition the deal to a CPM-based Programmatic Guaranteed deal prior to this date. If you have CPD deals planned beyond the deprecation date (but not yet live) you should adjust your media plans to run a CPM-based PG deal instead.

As an option to simulate Cost Per Day buying behavior you can use a CPM-based Programmatic Guaranteed deal and ask the publisher to fight/cap the number of bid requests evenly on a per day basis (with publishers can support this).

To find CPD deals within your partner:

  1. Go to My Inventory and view Orders and Deals.
  2. Add a filter for Rate Type.
  3. Select CPD.

For partners and advertisers does that do not have a billing address in the EEA and/or your CPD deal is not reaching users in EEA countries, no action is required.

Migrate from Universal Analytics to Google Analytics 4 to continue leveraging Google Analytics Events in custom bidding for Display & Video 360

Display & Video 360 will no longer support Universal Analytics signals in Custom Bidding algorithms in the European Economic Area (EEA) starting February 16, 2024. Universal Analytics will be deprecated globally starting July 2024. Customers who want to continue using Google Analytics events in custom bidding should migrate to Google Analytics 4.

Migrate from Universal Analytics to Google Analytics 4 to continue adding EEA users to Google Analytics user lists for Display & Video 360

Universal Analytics will no longer add European Economic Area (EEA) users to user lists in Display & Video 360 after March 6, 2024. Customers still using Universal Analytics user lists in Display & Video 360 after this date will start seeing a degradation of these lists. We recommend customers migrate from Universal Analytics to Google Analytics 4 and create the same (or new) user lists using their Google Analytics 4 property. They should then update their campaigns to append these Google Analytics 4 lists to their active campaigns.
