Insert & arrange text, shapes & lines in Vids (Workspace Labs)

Important: This article refers to Google Workspace Labs, which is an invite only program for users to try new AI Features. To check if you have access to Workspace Labs features, open Google Vids. You can add text, shapes, lines, and other objects to your scenes in Google Vids.

Add text or objects to a scene

To insert texts, shapes or lines to a scene in a video:

  1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.

  2. Select the scene where you want to add a text box or object.
  3. From the sidebar, select Shape & Line or Text .
  4. Click the object you want to insert.

To remove text, shapes or lines to a scene in a video:

  1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.

  2. Select the text box, object, or line you want to remove and then press Delete.

Arrange & align objects in a scene

To arrange objects on a scene’s canvas:

  1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
  2. Select the scene where you want to arrange an object.
  3. In the "Menu," click Arrange.
  4. Choose from these options:
    • Order: Put the object behind or in front of text, other objects, or images.
    • Align: When you select multiple objects, you can align their edges.
    • Distribute: When you select 3 or more objects, you can evenly distribute the space between them.
    • Center on page: Center objects vertically or horizontally in a scene.
    • Rotate: Change the orientation of an object.
    • Group: Lock multiple objects together to make them easier to move around and format.

Resize or rotate an object in a scene

To change the size or rotation of objects on a scene’s canvas:

  1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
  2. Select the scene with the object or text box you want to change.
  3. Click the object or text box.
  4. Click on the object and then click Format options .
  5. In the format options side panel, click Size & rotation.

    Tips:

    • To keep the height and width proportions when you resize an object, select Lock aspect ratio.
    • In the format options side panel, you can also add customized formatting to text, shapes, and lines.
  6. Make changes to the object or text box.

Important: To turn off any of the features on Google Workspace Labs you must exit Workspace Labs. If you exit, you will permanently lose access to all Workspace Labs features, and you won’t be able to rejoin Workspace Labs. Learn more about how to exit Workspace Labs.
