Feature availability
- This feature is available through our early access testing program, Google Workspace Labs, which is an invite only program for users to try new AI features.
- To check if you have access to Workspace Labs features, open Google Vids. A window to help you start creating in Vids will appear if you have access. Learn where you can use Workspace Labs features.
- For users with access to Workspace Labs, note that new features for Vids are rolling out gradually, and may not be available to you yet.
Each audio element in a video has its own track below the timeline at the bottom of the screen. The audio track allows you to customize when the audio begins and ends.
You can add multiple or simultaneous audio tracks to a video. For example, you can layer a voiceover over music. Audio tracks can span multiple scenes.
Adjust audio timing with audio tracks
You can adjust the start and end point of your audio track, or choose to play a portion of the audio track rather than the entire track.
- On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
- Below the timeline, find the audio track you want to adjust.
- To control which part of the audio file will play, click and drag the track left or right.
- To adjust the length of the track, hover over the track to find the trim handles, then drag the handles in or out to shorten or extend.
Adjust audio volume & transitions with audio tracks
Control the volume of each audio track and customize the volume of each track when layering audio.
- On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
- Below the timeline, find the audio track you want to adjust.
- To open the sound side panel next to your canvas, click the audio track Sound .
- In the side panel, use the slides to customize volume and audio transitions.
- Tip: To ensure your voiceover is audible, for layering audio and speech, lower the volume of background music.
Important: To turn off any of the features on Google Workspace Labs you must exit Workspace Labs. If you exit, you will permanently lose access to all Workspace Labs features, and you won’t be able to rejoin Workspace Labs. Learn more about how to exit Workspace Labs.
