As a Classroom teacher, you can post resource materials, such as a syllabus, classroom rules, or topic-related reading, to the Classwork page.
Like other types of posts on the Classwork page, materials can be organized by topic, reordered, and scheduled to post later.
When you add materials to the Classwork page, you can:
Add materials
- Tap Classroom the class.

Tap Classwork .
- Tap Add Material.
- Enter a title and a description.
Add attachments
You can add attachments, such as Google Drive files, YouTube videos, or links, to your material.
- Follow the steps above to add material.
- Tap Attach choose an option:
Attachment type Directions Drive - Tap Drive .
- Tap the item Select.
Note: Google Drive items are view-only to students and editable by co-teachers. To change these sharing options, see Stop, limit, or change sharing.
Link - Tap Link .
- Enter the URL and tap Add.
Pick photo - Tap Pick photo .
- Tap the photo.
Use camera - Tap Use camera .
- Take your photo tap Use photo.
- If you see a message that you don’t have permission to attach a file, tap Copy. Classroom makes a copy of the file to attach to the material and saves the copy to the class Drive folder.
- (Optional) To delete an attachment, next to it, tap Remove .
Post to additional classes
Materials posted to multiple classes are shared with all students in those classes.
- Next to the class name, tap Next .
- Tap any additional classes Done.
Post to individual students
Unless you’re posting to multiple classes, you can post material to individual students. You can’t post to more than 100 students at a time.
- Follow the steps above to add material.
- Tap All students All students again to deselect it.
- Tap each student’s name to select them.
- Tap Done.
Note: You’ll see the number of students you posted to in the class stream. To view the students’ names, tap number students on the material.
Add a topic
You can only add one topic to an item.
- Follow the steps above to add material.
- Tap No topic and choose an option:
- To create a new topic, tap Add topic and enter a topic name.
- Tap a topic in the list.
- Tap Save.

Post materials
- Follow the steps above to add material.
- To post the material immediately, tap Post .
Schedule materials to post later
- Follow the steps above to add material.
- Tap More Schedule.
- At Schedule for date, tap the date, select a date, and tap OK.
- At Schedule for time, tap the time, select a time, and tap OK.
- Tap Schedule.
The material automatically posts at the scheduled date and time.
Save material as a draft
- Follow the steps above to add material.
- Tap More Save draft.
Edits affect individual classes. For multi-class materials, make edits in each class.
Edit posted material
- Tap Classroom the class.
- Tap Classwork .
- On a post, swipe left .
- Tap Edit enter your changes tap Save.
Edit scheduled material
- Tap Classroom the class.
- Tap Classwork .
- On a post, swipe left .
- Tap Edit enter your changes tap Schedule.
Edit draft material
- Tap Classroom the class.
- Tap Classwork .
- On a post, swipe left .
- Tap Edit enter your changes.
Changes are automatically saved.
- Choose an option:
- Post it immediately (details above).
- Schedule it to post at a specific date and time (details above).
- To keep it a draft and return to the Classwork page, at the top, tap Close Save.
Delete material
- Tap Classroom the class.
- Tap Classwork .
- On a post, swipe left .
- Tap Delete Delete again to confirm.
Reorder materials on the Classwork page
If you add topics to materials, you can change the order of the topics and posts on the Classwork page. For details, go to Reorder posts under a topic or Reorder topics.
