You can send messages during a video meeting to the other video meeting guests from a computer or mobile device.
Notes:
- If you join a conference room using Google meeting room hardware, you can find the messages, but not send.
- Messages are visible to everyone in the call.
- Except for pinned messages, you can only find the chat messages that are sent while you’re in a video meeting.
- Messages that are sent before you join the meeting don’t display, and all messages disappear when you leave.
- Pinned messages aren't available on mobile devices. If you join a meeting on your mobile device, the pinned messages don’t display.
- If you use Meet with a Voice Over software, when a chat message is sent, you'll get a sound notification but the messages aren't voiced over. To hear the message, open the chat panel.
- Important: When meetings are recorded the chat conversation log is also saved.
- Workspace organizations with admin capabilities can switch this feature on or off for the entire organization.
