When you play media in the Google Chrome browser on your PC, you can cast it to your Google Nest or Home speaker or display. This feature lets your speaker or display play music, audiobooks, or other media from services that aren't supported in the Google Home app.
To cast content to your speaker or display, you need a computer with:
- The minimum system requirements
- A strong connection to the same Wi-Fi network as your speaker or display
- A recent version of Google Chrome (version 72 or higher)
Cast content from Chrome to your Google Nest speaker or display
Option 1: From the Cast button- If you haven't already, pin the Cast button to your Chrome toolbar.
- In your Chrome browser, open a website with the media you want to play.
- Click the Cast button .
- Choose the speaker or display you want to use.
- On the website, start the media. It'll play on the speaker or display you chose.
- In your Chrome browser, open a Cast-enabled site.
- Click the Cast button . You can usually find it near other media controls, like play, pause, and volume.
- Choose the speaker or display you want to use.
- On the website, start the media. It'll play on the speaker or display you chose.
- In your Chrome browser, open a website with the media you want to play.
- Click More Save and Share Cast...
- Choose the speaker or display you want to use.
- On the website, start the media. It'll play on the speaker or display you chose.
- In your Chrome browser, open a website with the media you want to play.
- Right-click the webpage Cast...
- Choose the speaker or display you want to use.
- On the website, start the media. It'll play on the speaker or display you chose.
Control media that's playing from Chrome
To control the content that you're casting, use the media controls on the webpage in Chrome. Depending on the provider and type of media, you can pause, resume, control volume, and more.
You can also use voice commands to control the volume and stop casting.
