How to fix: Duplicate Business Profile

Go to the Google Business Profile to remove the duplicate profile.

On this page

Reasons why the issue is happening

If one or more store codes in your local inventory data is referencing a Business Profile that has been identified as a duplicate, inventory data associated with it will be rejected. Business Profiles can either be a duplicate of a Business Profile to which you already have access to or a business to which you don’t have access. The Business Profile interface will indicate whether or not you have access to the original Business Profile.

How to fix your issue

Step 1 In the navigation menu of your Google Business Profile Manager, click Businesses.

Step 2 Filter for duplicate businesses at the top right by switching the view from "All" to "Duplicate".

Step 3 Click on the business identified as “Duplicate” to reach the overview page for this business.

Step 4 On the overview page, the “Duplicate business” will be called out in a red box.

Step 5 If you have access to the original business of which this Business Profile is a duplication, the “View original” link will be displayed. If you don’t have access, a “Request access” link will be displayed instead. You can then delete the duplicate profile. We recommend keeping the verified profile.

Update your inventory data to match the store code of the verified profile. You can also report a business that was incorrectly marked as a duplicate.

Note: It can take up to 24 hours for your Business Profile changes to reflect on Merchant Center.
