Experiment with ad copy

Stop an ad copy test

When you stop an ad copy test, you also choose whether all or some of the ads will continue to display in the ad group.

Options for continuing ad display when you stop an ad copy test:

  • Keep all ads - Stops the test and keeps all ads active in the ad group. All ads, even poor performing ads, will continue to display as part of the campaign.
  • Pause selected ads - Stops the test and pauses the selected ads. You might pause an ad because another ad in the test is achieving better ROI. The remaining ads will continue to display as part of the campaign. The paused ads are not active in the ad group.
  • Pause poor performing ads - Search Ads 360 stops the test and automatically pauses ads that aren’t performing as well as the other ads. The remaining ads will continue to display as part of the campaign. The paused ads are not active in the ad group.

For example, when you check the results of an ad copy test that includes three ads, you see that the test results are significant and the rating for one of the ads is poor (indicated by a down arrow). You decide to stop the test and let Search Ads 360 pause poor performing ads.
In the ad group, one ad is paused. The other two ads continue to display as part of the campaign and the test is marked as completed.
  • You can stop an ad copy test at any time, including before it reaches the statistical significance threshold. The test may have collected enough data to calculate the confidence interval for each ad. If so, you can compare the intervals and use them to make an informed decision about which ads to continue to run in the ad group.
  • An ad copy test can’t be restarted. You can start another test with some or all of same ads.
