In some cases, a broad-match or phrase-match keyword in one ad group may match a search query even though you've defined an exact-match keyword elsewhere in the account. For example, an exact-match keyword in a campaign that targets mobile devices won't match searches from a desktop machine, and so a broad-match keyword elsewhere in the account may be used instead.
To let you know if you already have exact-match keywords for a query in your account, the search terms report includes the Exact keyword matches in column. The column displays the number of exact-match keywords throughout the entire account that match a search query. For example, the following row in a search terms report segmented by keyword indicates the following:
-
The "red sneakers" search query matched the broad-match "sneakers" keyword in the "Hightops" ad group
-
One other campaign in the current account has defined an exact-match keyword for the "red sneakers" search query

In the example above, the Exact keyword matches in column displays the following information:
-
Account: 1 - There's one exact-match keyword for this search query elsewhere in the account. Because the column reports 0 for Campaign, you know the exact match keyword is in some other campaign.
-
Campaign: 0 - The "Generic" campaign does not contain an exact match keyword for this query
-
Ad group: 0 - The "Hightops" ad group does not contain an exact match keyword for this query
