Add an account to use Pix with Google Pay

To make Pix payments with Google Pay, link your account to use Pix in Google Wallet.

Once you link an account in Google Wallet, you can:

  • Update and remove your account(s) in the app.
  • Use Pix to complete transactions with:
    • Tap to pay with Pix
    • Pix key
    • QR code
    • Copy and paste

Add an account to use Pix

Important: To use Pix, your selected payment profile must be based in Brazil.

If you have multiple payment profiles, you can change your selected profile. Learn how to manage your payment profile.

  1. Open the Google Wallet app .
  2. At the bottom, tap Add to Wallet.
  3. Tap Pix.
    • To add your account securely in Google Wallet, complete a one-time verification of your personal details.
    • You'll have to select your financial institution. If you don’t see it, they may not support integration with Google Pay at this time.
    • Update to the latest version of your Google Wallet and financial institution apps to avoid issues.
  4. After you get redirected to your financial institution’s app, sign in and complete the instructions.
    • If you don’t have your financial institution’s app, download it. You will be able to remove it once your account is successfully added.
    Tip: Once you have linked your account, that information will be saved in your Google Account.

Remove account used for Pix

On the Google Wallet app

  1. Open the Google Wallet app .
  2. Tap Payment methods & activity and then Payment methods and then Accounts.
  3. Select your preferred account.
  4. On the Account details page, at the top right, tap More More and then Remove payment method.

On the Google Wallet website

  1. Go to the Google Wallet website.
  2. On the left, click Payment methods.
  3. Select your preferred account.
  4. Click Remove.

Important:

  • If you choose to remove the account, your previous Pix transaction history may still be in the Transactions page in the Google Wallet Website.
  • Both options remove the linked account from both the Wallet website and the Wallet app at the same time.

Common issues when you link an account

To resolve your issue, find the troubleshooting steps related to the error message you received.

Unable to link account as the account type isn’t authorized
You can't link CNPJ accounts, salary, social benefit, or payroll transfer account types. Try to link another type of account, such as a regular or savings account. If your preferred account isn’t supported, contact your financial institution.
I don't have the financial institution app installed
To link your account in Google Wallet, your financial institution's app must be installed. However, you can delete the app once you’ve successfully linked your account.
Financial institution app is installed on my phone’s secure folder
To link your account in Google Wallet, your financial institution's app must not be installed on the secure folder of your device. After you successfully link your account, you can delete the app or install it back on the secure folder.
We are unable to process your request currently
Try to link your account again later.
Request not acceptable or internal server error
Wait 30 minutes and try to link your account again.
Request failed. An unexpected error has occurred
Try to link your account again later.
We have not been able to link your account to use Pix
Try to link your account again later. Contact your financial institution for further questions and verify that the account is a supported account type to use Pix with Google Pay.
Account not linked as device lock was removed, password updated, or fingerprint updated

To link your account in Google Wallet and make Pix payments safely and securely, use a device screen lock.

  • If you get issues linking your account: Your lock code, password, or fingerprint may be incorrect.
  • If your screen lock was removed: Turn on your screen lock. You may need to link your account again.
Linked account requires a fix
In the Google Wallet app, link your account again.
  1. Open the Google Wallet app .
  2. Tap Payment methods & activity Payment methods Accounts.
