Known issues with private space on Wear OS by Google

To keep your sensitive apps away from prying eyes, you can set up private space, a separate space on your Android device to hide and organize apps.

There are some known issues you may experience when you use a Wear OS watch connected to a device with private space enabled.

Learn about notifications on Wear OS

You can receive notifications on your watch in 2 ways:

  • Notification from a local watch app: Some apps are installed directly on your watch.
  • Phone app only: Many phone apps don't have a dedicated watch version and you can configure your watch companion app on the phone to forward (bridge) notifications to the watch.

If your watch is set up to receive bridged notifications from phone apps in Android 15:

  • You won’t receive private space notifications on your watch.
  • Known issues: For some Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) devices, you might get notifications from private space apps on your watch when private space is unlocked on your phone. These may have a work profile icon badge.
  • Even if you don't have a work profile on your phone, you might find a work profile tab in the Wear OS app if you have private space set up.

Tip: You won't find media controls on your watch for private space apps.
