Manage Google Ads custom URL parameters

Add custom parameters to URLs

Once you've created custom parameters, add them to a Final URL Suffix or directly to landing page URLs. If you add custom parameters to URL templates, parallel tracking may prevent the parameters from being available to your landing pages.

The steps you take for adding custom parameters to URLs are slightly different depending on which level you're using them.

Add custom parameters to a campaign or ad group's Final URL Suffix

  1. Navigate to a Google Ads account.

Steps for navigating to an engine account
    1. In the left navigation panel, click All accounts.
What if the left navigation pane isn't visible?

    2. Click the navigation bar to display navigation options.

    3. In the "Agency" list, click on the agency that contains the advertiser. You can search for an agency by name or scroll through the list.

    4. In the "Advertiser" list, click on the advertiser that contains the engine account.

    5. In the "Account" list, click on the engine account.

    6. Click Apply or press the Enter key.

Search Ads 360 displays the engine account page.

  2. Click the Campaigns or Ad groups tab.

  3. Click the name of a manual campaign or ad group.

  4. Click the settings icon  that appears above the tabs.

  5. In Final URL Suffix, add a URL parameter and specify the custom parameter as its value. Learn more about adding parameters to a Final URL Suffix.

For example, if you added a custom parameter named {_geo}, your Final URL Suffix might look like the following:
    geo={_geo}

  6. Click Save.

Search Ads 360 traffics the updated Final URL Suffix to Google Ads, and Google Ads applies the suffix when it serves ads from the campaign or ad group.
