Change your role in Classroom

If you accidentally choose the wrong role when you first sign up for Classroom, contact your Google Workspace administrator. Only Classroom administrators can reassign a role. Changes should take effect almost instantly.

I’m a teacher and signed up as a student

1. Contact your Classroom administrator.
2. Tell them to follow the steps in Change a user’s role from student to teacher.

I’m a student and signed up as a teacher

1. Ask your teacher to contact the Classroom administrator.
2. Tell the administrator to follow the steps in Change a user’s role from teacher to student.

I’m a student and I want to create a class

Students can’t create classes in Classroom. If you want to create a class, for example for a club or a team, you can use Classroom with a personal Google Account. If you’re under 13, you need an adult to create the class.
