- This feature is available through our early access testing program, Google Workspace Labs, which is an invite only program for users to try new AI features.
- To check if you have access to Workspace Labs features, open Google Vids. A window to help you start creating in Vids will appear if you have access. Learn where you can use Workspace Labs features.
- For users with access to Workspace Labs, note that new features for Vids are rolling out gradually, and may not be available to you yet.
Google Vids is an AI-powered video creation app for work. Use Vids to create, write, produce, edit, collaborate, and share your videos.
- Use "help me create" with Gemini in Vids to create a video using a prompt.
- Use templates to help you get started.
- Add your own content, including images and video clips from Drive.
- Add videos, GIFs, images, stickers, music, and sound effects from the Vids stock content library.
- Use a recording studio that lets you record audio, record yourself, your screen, or a combination.
- Collaborate in real-time & share videos by downloading as an MP4 or sharing with a link for playback view on a computer.

Important:
- Only users with access to Gemini Alpha and Workspace Labs can create a video or copy videos shared with them.
- All users with a Google Account can view or collaborate on a video.
- New features for Vids are rolling out gradually, and may not be available to you yet.
- Videos created with Vids have a maximum duration of 10 minutes.
You can use Vids on your computer with the two most recent versions of these browsers:
- Chrome
- Firefox
- Windows only: Microsoft Edge
Other browsers may work, but you might not be able to use all of the features.
Tip: Currently, you can’t edit or comment in Vids in Safari. You can use playback after a video is processed.
The following types of media can be uploaded from your computer or from Google Drive.

Create a new video
You can create a new video, or make a new version of a video already created in Vids by copying and editing a video that’s already been made.
- On your computer, open Google Vids.
- Choose an option to create a new video:
- Help me create
- Create a video with AI in Google Vids. Learn more about how to create a video with a prompt with Gemini in Vids.
- Select a template
- Build your video based on a template that you have selected. Learn more about building a video from a template.
- Start with a recording
- Build your video with a video, audio, or screen recording. Learn more about adding video clips using the Vids recording studio.
- Upload media
- Build your video by recording yourself (audio narration or a full video recording), your computer screen, or both. Learn more about uploading video clips, GIFs, or images.
- Help me create
Tip: To start a video from scratch, click Close to close the window and open your new video.
Copy a video
You can copy an existing video in Google Vids to build a new or updated version.
- On your computer, open Google Vids.
- Double-click to open the video you want to copy.
- Click File Make a copy .
- Tips:
- To make a copy of a video from Drive, right-click to open the menu bar click Make a copy .
- You can copy the full video or selected scenes.

Edit & format a video
You can add, edit, or format text, images, or videos in each scene and you can customize transitions between scenes.

Share & collaborate with Vids
Share your videos and select whether collaborators can view, edit, or comment on them.
Share a video for others to viewTo share videos created in Vids, you can share as:
- Google Vids files
- MP4s in Google Drive
- MP4s after you download
Tip: To collaborate with others on your video, share as a Google Vids file and choose an access level:
- Commenters: Can add comments to the video but can’t make changes to the video.
- Editors: Can add comments and make changes to the video.
Share as a Google Vids file
- On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
- At the top right corner, click Share .
- Add the people, groups, or events you want to share your file with.
- Click the drop-down that appears after you add people to select access level:
- Viewer
- Commenter
- Editor
- Click Send.
Share as an MP4 in Drive
- On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
- At the top right corner next to Share , click Quick sharing options .
- To export as an MP4 to Drive, click Export to Drive .
- To open the MP4 file in Drive, click Open now.
- To update access and find the link to your file:
- Open the MP4 file.
- At the top right corner, click Share .
Share after you download as an MP4
- On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
- In the menu, click File Download as MP4.
- The file downloads as an MP4 file that you can share with others to watch.
Watch a video shared with you
Anyone with a Google account can view a video shared with Google Vids.
Tip: To access Google Vids on your mobile device, you can use a compatible web browser. You can watch processed videos on your mobile device but you can’t edit or add comments to videos.
